The Alabama Rig Craze is Real!
In terms of bass fishing products, the Alabama Rig has become the single hottest product for the 2012 season! The Ozark Source's best selling umbrella rig has been the Yum Yumbrella 7" Rig. It has a solid construction with strong leader connections and quality swivel snaps that are far superior to some of the other rigs that have been rushed to market to meet the demand of this new craze.
The best way to start fishing this rig is to be properly equipped with a good selection of the right equipment. The Ozark Source has a starter kit with all the essentials.
Thousands upon thousands of these rigs are being sold and the bass fishing market is consuming these at record paces. Not a new concept and frequently used as a spreader bar in the upper midwest, and similar style products in the saltwater market, the freshwater tournament bass fisherman has found the application to be effective as a "schooling-shad-presentation" at lunker bass. Their are a few keys to this rig. One, fish a minimum of 65-pound test braided line. The weight of the rig, full-rigged, with the potential of one to five fish on the end of the rig demands it. While you will be tempted to use inexpensive hooks, make sure you use swim bait hooks with heavier shanks. Lastly, logic would seem to indicate that you should upgrade to a heavier action rod to handle the weight. The problem with this logic is an extra-heavy rod action will make this rig entirely to difficult to cast. A medium-heavy to heavy action, combines with zero-stretch braid will get the hookset accomplished.
Give this technique a try!

Bear Archery 2010-11 Compound Bows - Draw Length Adjustment
As with most bow companies today, Bear Archery has simplified draw length adjustment on their compound bows. The Bear Strike and Charge bows have cams designed with a universal module that moves and rotates on the cam. The draw length on these bows can be adjusted by loosening the screws and moving the module along the cam. The cam has a sequence of numbers (the highest number being the longest corresponding draw length) with corresponding holes for replacement of the module. To finalize the draw length adjustment process on these bows, the draw stop module on the cam must be moved to the corresponding number the module was moved (ie. move the module to the number 8 position, move the draw stop to it's corresponding 8 position).
The remaining Bear Archery bows in the 2011 lineup, the Carnage, Attack, Assault, and the Mauler all have draw length specific modules (VERY IMPORTANT: they are specific to right-hand and left-hand as well). These modules have to be replaced, and as with the other bows, to finalize the draw length adjustment, the draw stop located on the cam with a single Allen screw must be moved based on the corresponding number on the module. The Ozark Source has the modules available should you find you need to fine tune your Bear Archery bow. The links for each of these are below.

Buzz Baits for Bass - A Bait for all Seasons
Since opening our retail business, we've committed ourselves to learn more about the tactics used by some of the local anglers in tournament situations. We actively fish in our local club and that has enhanced what we have needed to know to help other anglers have an enjoyable fishing experience. While most anglers keep the "top secret" info pretty close to the vest, you can't help but see what they use and when they use it. My perception of the buzz bait was, summertime, early morning, late evening. Short window, get there early and you might expect 30 minutes of action.
That's partly right.
Buzz baits are one of the top secrets used by anglers in all seasons, including winter! We've had tournaments won by guys slowly cranking a buzz bait in 45 degree water in February. Most anglers position their boat parallel to the bank and work the outer banks along the shoreline.
Another perfect situation is a cloudy day. Windy, even better. All seasons, mind you.
Going back to the tournament guys......they always have one rod with a buzz bait tied on.....at all times!
Good luck. I hope it works out for you!
